Peg Rail

We went to Shaker Hancock Village today to purchase a peg rail for Matthew's house. The Shakers used peg rails to keep things off the floor. They would hang brooms, hats, chairs, etc. The Shakers hated dust and having everything off the floor made sweeping easier. Even their beds were often constructed on wheels so they could be more easily moved around to sweep under.
