“Take my woof, please!”

No, it’s not an old Henny Youngman routine. The “woof” is the horizontal weaving of the seat. This is the part that actually makes the pattern. I’ve been told that the Shakers themselves typically wove the checkerboard pattern you may have seen (one over one), or the two-over-one or two-over-two varieties, all of which appear on chairs in our collection. In this case, I have started a less traditional diamond pattern. It’s a little more work, but I think it’s going to be very cool. I will be sure to update you with the final product!
