Early Shaker Side Chair with New Tape Seat. Early 19th C. Probably Watervliet Community. Unusual sharply bent and resolute back posts with a slight taper. Boldly arched and graduated back slats with slightly worn chamfer. Elliptical shaped pommels with collar; one pommel exhibiting slightly more bulbous aura. Wooden pins and scribe marks. Grungy ombre patina. 40 inch overall height with a seat height of 16 inches. New custom seat taped two over two in maroon and black stripe. Some damage to bottom of back post as pictured.
