Civil War & WWII Commemorative Quilt
This quilt, made by the acclaimed quilt maker, Mary Madden, of Spenceer, MA, who recently passed away at the age of 105, commemorates family members who served in the Civil War and WWII. In this quilt, she incorporated the Grand Army of the Republic badge of Patrick Henry Kelly of Spencer, MA, who, in 1861, enlisted in the Mass. Volunteers Company K 10th Regiment and served until 1863. It also contains a WWII era lace handerkerchief sent home from a family serviceman stationed at the air base in Hawaii. It also has vintage military uniform buttons and vintage Red Cross pins sewn in. The quilt measures 64 x 66 inches. This beautiful, historic quilt has Mary Madden's handwritten notes attached. It is a very special piece.
