Shaker Cupboard with 5 Drawers

Shaker Cupboard with Five Drawers. 19th Century.  Pine with original bittersweet red finish. Front (left) with single inset panel cupboard door featuring a turned hardwood knob in dark brown finish and hand carved wooden rotating door closure.  Front (right) with single inset panel. Both door and panel double pegged top and bottom. Three interior shelves with the center shelf divided into 8 cubby holes. Five equally sized drawers on the right side of the cabinet each with turned hardwood knobs in dark brown finish.  Drawers with primitive dovetails and strongly chamfered bottom board both of which are features of Shaker craftsmanship.  Each drawer is sequentially numbered on the back in pencil with the fifth drawer also having writing in pencil on the outside of each side board, the left side with dollar amounts and the right side with name "...Paige" and possible date in the 1880's.  Each drawer as well as the cabinet door still retain the original lock hardware mortised within (no key).  Single  board top.  Measures approximately 33 1/2" across, 30" high and 14" deep.
