Shaker Confetti Knotted Rug

Shaker Confetti Knotted Rug.   Early 20th Century.  Northeastern United States.  Rectangular form.  This rug, through its use of knotted rags to form a confetti pattern and borders, reflects the Shaker's belief in use of recycled materials.  Similar crafted rug can be found in Beverly Gordon's Shaker Textile Arts, 1980 on pgs 127 & 128. Fabric backing with minor staining.  Otherwise this rug is in excellent shape for its age.  Measures approximately 31 inches x 20 inches.
